Country Roads and City Lights

Left about 9:00 a.m. for  Valley of Fire State Park.  We have never been there but have always wanted to see it.  The first pictures posted are from that drive.  We found out that this road leads to I-15 so tomorrow when we leave, we will take this same road.  It will be great to see this same beautiful scenery again and avoid Las Vegas altogether.  Yeah!!

Valley of Fire State Park is Nevada's first and oldest state park.  We stopped at the Visitor's Center and it was very nice and informative.

This was called Rainbow Canyon.  The walls of the canyon were so beautiful.

We spotted these two Desert Mountain Sheep.  We have seen several in the area.  The first day we were in Boulder City, we saw five in a residential area.  Two of these where butting heads.

This trail was through Petroglyph Canyon.  We saw several petroglyhps along the walls.

These stone shelters where built by the CCC in the 1930's.  They were used as camping shelters for hikers.

We got back from Valley of Fire State Park around 2:00 p.m. and rested Carol's knee for awhile.  He really wants to go into Las Vegas to the Strip and the doctor did not place any restrictions on what he could do so I guess its to Las Vegas Strip we will go.

Although this picture may not show it, the traffic was terrible.  There was construction which would close a lane expectantly and it seemed that we were always in the wrong lane.  We drove around for one hour looking for a place to park.

Finally at sunset, we found a parking garage and got parked.  We were hungry by this time so we ate at the Rainforest Cafe.  We had eaten here when we came out with Jason and Kara 14 years ago.  After eating we walked the Strip. We saw a pink poodle that for a cost you could have your picture with.   We saw scantily clad young ladies wearing showgirl customes who would like you take a picture with for a price  We saw men dressed as superheros and again you could have a picture taken with for a fee.  I thought what a hard way to make a living. We saw the water fountain show at the Bellogios.  By this time, Carol's knee was really hurting him so we said we had enough of the Strip and went back to camp.  We got back to camp around 10:30.  It had been a long day so I didn't blog.  Now I am trying to catch up again.
