Moving On

Today was very uneventful with few pictures taken so I will begin with last nights sunset.

This morning when we woke up it had rained.  Through the thick clouds, the sun found a small hole in which to send a ray or two.  We only had 100 miles to travel and could not check into our next campground until noon so we started the day like we usually end it...playing Skip-Bo.  Carol gets antsy in the morning if we are going to be packing up.  He likes to get on with it; however, today he had to spend a couple of hours doing nothing.   His favorite things to do is clean windows.  He was able to clean all the motorhome windows.

As he was cleaning, the Corps of Engineer volunteer stopped by to talk.  We told him that we really like to camp in COE campgrounds but I had two small complaints.  One...There is no central website you can go to find a list of COE campgrounds in the various states and Two...the signage to the campground is non-existent.  You have to know where you are going to find them.  His response was that he agreed and that it is the federal government and that is the way the federal government works.  There is no hope for it to change so deal with it.  He was a very nice man and gave us good advise.

We left Cranes Mill at 11:00 a.m. and arrived at Whispering Oaks at 1:15 p.m.  The office is not open on Sundays but all we needed was in an envelope with our name on it and in the check-in box.

The campground was nicely decorated for fall.  It is a small campground but very nice.

We are in D3.  We have a nice big tree under which to sit up.  It was long and level enough that we did not have to use blocks.  It is close to the restroom/shower.  Yes, I said restroom/shower.  There is only one.  It is large but there is only one.  I told Carol this trip has had many firsts.  It was the first time we had camped without restrooms/showers and this first time is with only one bathroom/shower.  Most, if not all, those camping here are larger RVs and have their own facilities.  We do too, but we like the larger shower instead of our small one.  Some people might not like the fact that the campground sits vey close to the interstate and on the other side of the campground there is a railroad track.  It won't bother us.

This nice little area is between our site and the one next to us.  It adds space to our site which we like.

I was able to get laundry done, we took a short walk around the camp, and when I am finished with this, we will end the day like we began it, by playing Skip-Bo.  Tomorrow we plan to go to church!  In fact,  we will go to several churches!
