Day 7: Custer State Park

It rained off and on all night but that is the best time for us.  We headed out to Custer State Park and ran into a lot of rain but thankfully, it cleared off by the time we got to Custer State Park.  The KOA has a coffee van that comes here in the mornings.  Carol tried out their coffee this morning.  The van is called "Van Go Coffee."  He said it was just coffee!

Driving from the KOA into the clouds and rain.

Taken just outside the Custer State Park Visitor's Center

Little stream in the park.

The three of us at the park.

Wild burros watching other burros beg for cookies.

This guy left this truck to come to our car for cookies

One cookie gone with two more to go.

This guy got a cookie or two from my side of the car  We finally had to roll up the windows and drive off before they ate every cookie we had.
large herd of bison

The buffalo herd at Custer State Park.  The park maintains a herd of 850-1200.

We were told that every spring there are at least 400 babies born.

This was taken from the Needles Highway.  The clouds cleared so we could get a picture or two.

Taken at Sylvan Lake in Custer State Park.
This is Sylvan Lake.

We saw this geese and at least three babies along the edge of Sylvan Lake.

Canoeist on Lake Sylvan.

Cathedral Pinnacles on the Needles Highway.

Deadwood Court House.  We didn't stop only drove through.

Every night Keegan swims.  Here he is practicing his cannonball!

We were able to enjoy the day at Custer State Park.  The rain cleared off and it was a nice day.  This is our last night in South Dakota.  This is a beautiful part of the state.  The Spearfish KOA is very nice and if we could, we could camp here again.  Tomorrow we head for Montana.
