Westward Ho!

We hooked up the car last night so getting ready this morning was a breeze.  We pulled out of our driveway at 8:15 a.m. pointing the motorhome west.  It was a beautiful day to drive.  The sun was out and it wasn't too hot.  We decided to take US 48 to Raymond and then get on I-55.  It had been a long time since we had driven that road.  It was a rough road so I don't think we will go that way again.

We got on I-270 west to bi-pass St. Louis.

We crossed the Mighty Mississippi River and shortly afterwards crossed the Missouri River.  Above is the Mississippi an below is the Missouri.

We took our time because our first stop was east of Kansas City, Missouri at Oak Grove KOA.  We stopped at a rest area in Illinois for Sandy (and us too) to take a break, at a rest area in Missouri to eat lunch and a stop for gas.  Gas is cheaper in Missouri at $2.53 a gallon.   At 3:00 p.m.  we pulled into the campground.

This is spot #28.  Soon it will be in complete shade.   We hooked up water, cable and electric.  After we put the slides out, I noticed a mess on the floor near the kitchen slide.  Yikes, among the mess was a dead mouse!  We had some minor repair work done on the motorhome in August before we left.  We took it to Four Winds in Moroa.  Four  Winds sits at the edge of town with corn fields nearby.  After we picked it up, Carol was checking the storage boots near the kitchen area and found a mouse. It was alive so he set DeCon out and a day or two later we found a dead mouse.  I guess that mouse had a partner and I found it today  I surely hope that does it for the mice!  That is a first for us.  We have never had mice in our RVs.

We stopped early today and are relaxing.  Tomorrow will be a short day with only 300 miles across Kansas and our next stop.   Sandy was her usual restless self but finally settled down and seems to be enjoying the trip so far.
