Colorful Colorado

Enjoyed a good night's rest and woke up to a cool an beautiful morning.  The struggles of yesterday were in the past and today was a new day.  Today's weather forecast was for "breezy" and not "windy" which was the forecast for yesterday.  We were able to handle "breezy."
Here are two sunrise pictures.  One was taken as the sky was beginning to show it's morning color before the sun had actually risen.  The other was taken just as the sun was coming up over the horizon.  Everything was calm and peaceful and gave us hope for a good day of trouble-free driving.

The dog park was just across the road from our campsite.  It was a great place to walk Sandy.  I loved this option for dogs to do their business in the location of whether they are city or country dogs.  Sandy ignored both so I guess she is a little bit country and a little bit city.

This was the view from our window at our site.  We really liked this KOA.  The sites were well-spaced and surrounded with grass.  We were lucky enough to get an end site and had this view.

We drove I-70 west across Kansas without any problems.  The wind was not a factor and the awning remained tight against the side of the motorhome.  It was very pleasant driving. We didn't have the sun in our faces or fighting the wind against the side of the motorhome.  We gained an hour when we crossed into Mountain Time.  At Limon, Colorado, we stopped at a Flying J Truck Stop for gas.  We like Flying J's because a lot of them have separate RV fueling lanes.  At Limon, we turned off the interstate on US 24 which goes directly to Colorado Springs.  It was a two-laned highway but not too busy.  The scenery was more rolling hills with ranches and farms.

We reached the KOA around 2:00 p.m. and set up on Site 133.  It is a very nice site on the end of a row.  We have a concrete patio with chairs, picnic table, and a BBQ grill.  At this time (6:00 p.m.)  it is in the shade.  The temperature is 88 degrees but it doesn't feel hot.  We haven't turned on the air conditioner but will when we leave to sight-see and leave Sandy in the motorhome.  We actually took the car off the dolly for the first time since Tuesday evening.  We are set up for the next four nights.

We have had supper and now it is time for our nightly routine of walking to the office/store for ice cream for dessert.  We are looking forward to do something besides riding in the motorhome on interstates.
