Tulsa, Oklahoma

We headed out this morning ate 8:15 knowing we had 375 miles to drive today.  This would be the longest day we have driven this trip.

We kept seeing in the distance yellow bales.  Finally, we saw some close enough to the highway and were able to see that the bales contain cotton.  We saw several fields of cotton that looked ready to pick.

We saw this and thought it looked very similar to the cross in Effingham.  It appeared to be the same size.

We thought this looked like the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

For awhile the grasses growing along the highway were red and added color to the highway.

When Kara and Jason came back from Hunter's swim camp, they stopped at a rest area in Texas that had a Route 66 theme.  We stopped at it as well.

The paths to the picnic tables looked like highways.

This was the building with the displays of Route 66 and the restrooms.

Field of cotton.

We have driven nearlyh 6,000 miles and this is the first serious accident we have seen.  It can't be seen in this picture, but the cab of the tracor is buried in the dirt.  If the driver survived he has to be in serious condition.

I didn't realize that Oklahoma's dirt is red but these pictures are proof of that.

We are camped in Will Rogers Downs KOA.  The campground is set beside a horse racing track.  The info on this KOA says that during race season, the horses can be seen exerising early in the morning.  I hope it is season because I would like to see that.

Site #36.  It is very long and level.

This KOA is on Cherokee Reservation land and is run by Cherokee Nation.  There is also a casino  here.    There aren't too many other campers here so it should be quiet.  Tomorrow we only have 175 miles to Springfield and then we are there for 4 nights, 3 days.
