Amarillo, Texas

The moon was so pretty this morning that I couldn't resist a picture.

The KOA serves a continental breakfast at 7:30 so we ate our breakfast there.  They served toast, cereal, donuts, coffee and juice.  As we ate, we talked with other campers which was enjoyable.

We were on the road by 8:15 headed east on I-40.  We had 270 miles to drive until we reached Amarillo and the stop for the evening.

We stopped for gas at the Flying J just outside Albuquerque.  We like to stop at Flying J's because usually they have dedicated RV pumps.  The most exciting thing at this stop was the price of gas.  We have never paid $2.44 for gas since we began our trip.  Carol gets a 3 cent discount because he has a Flying J loyalty card.  Every little bit helps.

A few final pictures of Albuquerque as we drove east.  When we left here a  month ago, the leaves had not changed.

The landscape changed as we drove east into Texas.  No more mountains.

From the time we entered Texas, we saw wind farms  It didn't seem to bother the cows to share their pasture with wind farms.

Another type of wind mill.   Some ranchers still use these to provide water for their cattle.

Site #16.

We don't have as nice a view as in past campgrounds.

There is a famous restaurant in Amarillo that promises your steak free if you can eat it all.  The steak is 72 ounces.  There is a free shuttle from the KOA to the "Big Texan" Restaurant.

This limo came to pick up a couple at the campground.  It is hard to tell but there are huge cow horns on the front of the limo.

I like the decorations at this campground.  This group of musicians stand at the front door.

A clever way to remind people that the grass at the front door is not a bathroom spot for dogs.

What else could a KOA in Amarillo, Texas have but a western theme.

We crossed into Central Standard Time when we crossed the Texas stateline  That makes me feel that our trip is nearly over.  It is warmer here and we may not even need to use the heat tonight.  Our stop tomorrow night is somewhere in Oklahoma
