Home....for Now

On the road by 8:15 hoping to get through Nashville before the traffic gets crazy.  The motorhome started up and ran like a top.  Still don't know why it was so stubborn in North Carolina.  It was much cooler this morning than it has been the last four weeks.  We actually had to turn on the heat in the motorhome to take the chill off the temperature inside. For the first time in weeks, we both put on jeans and long-sleeved shirts.

We stopped for gas at a Flyin' J in Kentucky.  This should be the last fill up until we get home.

The trees weren't turning colors yet but the grasses added color to the scene.

Home...or nearly.

We pulled into our driveway at 4:00 p.m. and immediately got to work unloading summer clothes and doing laundry.  We hope to get repacked and on the road to Turkey Run by Tuesday morning.   I do have to do some grocery shopping to restock for meal the next two weeks.  We were surprised that the temperatures were much, much cooler than we have been used to the last four weeks.  Now I need to pack jeans, sweatshirts, and long-sleeved shirts.  The long-range temperatures for at least the next week shows much cooler temperatures.  This year at Turkey Run will be much cooler.

We met the Ozee Family (minus Kara because she has Covid) at Diamonds Restaurant for supper.  We wanted to catch up with what has been going on with them while we were gone the last four weeks.
This was the sunset as we drove to Diamonds.  It is as pretty as anything I took while on our trip.

We drove the motorhome 3500 miles and the car 2000.  Almost half of that 2000 were the miles we drove to and from Key West.  It was a great trip.  We saw new national parks like Dry Tortugas and Fort Matanzas.  Both of these parks are one and done but were very interesting and I am certainly glad we  visited them.  We had a good visit with John and Family and met some very nice people along the way.  We drove over some very bad roads that made us feel like our teeth would fall out.  We saw some beautiful scenery, sunsets and sunrises.  We still have two more weeks of  "vacation" at Turkey Run.  I may not post everyday while at Turkey Run. We both are looking forward to having a day or two that we don't get into the car but just totally relax at the camper.  This two weeks will be great for us to unwind from the almost 5500 miles we drove these last four weeks.
