A Travel Day

It rained in the night which is a sound that I like to hear.  There was no thunder or lightening...just a gentle rain hitting on the roof of the motorhome.  We we were packed and on the road by 8:15 a.m.  We had nearly 400 miles until our next stop of Lumberton KOA. The sun was out and it was cooler so it was a great day to travel.  I didn't realize that Jacksonville was so close to St. Augustine.  After an hour we were taking the bi-pass around the city.

The St. John's River runs through Jacksonville,  It's mouth is in the Atlantic Ocean so Jacksonville is a big hub for overseas freighters of all sizes and content.
This beautiful bridge carries I-95 over St. John River.

Finally, after nearly three weeks we are leaving Florida.  We did have a great time in Florida.

I
We cut across the very bottom of Georgia into South Carolina.

We stopped for gas two times today and the second time was at a Buc ees.  This one has only been open since April.  Gas was $3.18 which we loved.

Flags flying at Buc ees...the American Flag, the Buc ees, and South Carolina.

Buc ees has interesting signs to remind people to pick up after their dogs.

I-95 North is the home of Pedro's South of the Border.  They have gas, a campground, and almost everything else a traveler would need.

Here is our campsite at Lumberton KOA.  This is a very nice spot.  It is well-spaced.  It was so nice and cool after we got set up that we sat outside and relaxed.  There were no mosquitoes!  We even ate supper outside.  I started working on my blog outside but it actually cooled down so much that I had finish it inside.  The only negative thing is that it is right by the interstate so there we hear the sounds of cars and trucks whizzing by.

Tomorrow we only have 300 miles to drive to Cape Hatteras so we won't be in a hurry to get on the road.  Looking forward to being stationary for three nights and two days while we explore Capet Hatteras.
