80th Birthday Celebration and Iowa State University

I am typing this at the motel in Ames, Iowa.  It has been a busy two days and this is the first time I have had to get my blog posted.  Yesterday, we traveled to Danville for a family visit and birthday party for the Mulvany Twins, Carol and Carolyn.  It was special because it was their 80th birthday.  Their sister, Jean, lives in Danville and is unable to travel so we all went to her so she could be a part of the big party.

The twins:  Carol (the older one) and Carolyn.  Carolyn lives in Tennessee so we don't get to see her very much.

These nieces and a nephew celebrated with them
Alana, Carla, Miles, and Anita

Jean (center) is the eldest of the Family.   Carol and Carolyn are next and, I am last.  Where did the years go?  That is the question that we all asked.

Today is August 19 and Carol's actual birthday.  Today we drove to Ames, Iowa to help our grandson Hunter move into the apartment where he will live as he attends Iowa State University.  When we drive I-80 we always stop at Iowa 80, the World's Largest Truckstop.

We filled up with gas in Heyworth, Illinois at a cost of $3.39 a gallon.  We wished we could have made it to I-80 for $2.69 a gallon.  Drive one state over and you can save 70 cents a gallon.

We did not have any rain so far but these clouds may change that later on tonight.
Here we are at Iowa State University.  We got to the motel around 4:30, unpacked, and then went to Texas Roadhouse for Carol's birthday supper.  It has been a nice day.  The rest of the family should be arriving soon.  Kara and Hunter got here about 8:30 p.m. and Jason and Keegan left when Keegan got out of school at 3:00.  Tomorrow it will be all hands on deck as we unload the truck and the trunks of our cars with Hunter's stuff.
