A Rough Beginning

We were on the road by 9:15 a.m. heading for our first campsite a few miles on the eastern side of Columbus, Ohio.  All went well as we traveled out of Illinois into Indiana. We managed to drive through Indianapolis without a hitch.  Just about every time we have driven through Indianapolis, there has been so much construction to get through but not this time.   We were happy and considered this to be a good sign of a good day.  However, that did not last because we were driving on I-70.  The last time we drove I-70 the road was so rough that we lost the bumper off our tow tolly.    As we were driving, the sound bar for the TV fell out of it's place.  It not only fell but pulled the trim from around the tv.  The Indiana roads were still just as rough as three years ago when we drove them the last time.

The happy travelers:  Papaw, Memaw, Kara, Hunter and Keegan.

We were glad to cross the stateline into Ohio where the roads were much smootherl

Columbus, Ohio - the capitol

We are camped at the Buckeye Lake KOA.  I remembered this lighthouse on a garage from the last time we camped here.  We have a nice level spot under tall trees.  It is warm so it felt good to get plugged into electricity and run both air conditioners.
It is hard to see but the trim is pulled away from the frame.  This was just the beginning of the "rough road" mishaps in the motorhome.  When we opened the big slide, we did not know that a picture we had hung on the wall had been jarred loose and cause the trim on the slid to come off and the slide to bind up.  We managed to get the picture loose and the slide out where it is supposed to be.

Then, the water was leaking in the shower stall.  The faucets were jarred so badly that the water turned on.  That meant some floor mopping and tightening up of the faucets.

Finally, we managed to get everything tightened and fixed so we could have supper and play our traditional several games of Old Main and Uno.  We are tired but still able to laugh.  I think we will all sleep well tonight.  We want to get on the road by 8 or 8:30.  We only have a four-hour drive to our next site in Pennsylvania.  Then in the afternoon we will visit the Flight 93 Memorial.  It is always a very somber, moving place to visit.
