This morning dawned as a beautiful day, sunny and comfortable temps. We wanted to get on the road early and we were pulling out of the camp at 8:15. We drove west on I-26 to South I-95 and then took US-82 west. US-82 is a four-laned highway.

We enjoyed the State of South Carolina. Its state tree is the palmetto palm and you can see them everywhere. The tree is on their flag. I think the interesting thing about the tree is the trunk. The trunk looks like it is woven like a basket. |

As we drove west on US-82 the sun plagued Carol and he finally came up with this unusual way to wear his cap to solve that problem. |

We enjoyed driving off the interstate. The highway drove between fields of cotton and through small towns that no longer had a business district but had a Dollar General. It is sad to see the storefronts in the towns. Dollar General is meeting a need for these small towns. It was very relaxing but it probably took a little longer time-wise. Sometimes you just have to stop and smell the roses or in other words, drive the back roads and see the country-side. |

We are camped at Americus KOA at Brickyard Plantation. It will be a very quiet because we are miles from the interstate and major highways. The campground is on a golf course. I don't know which came first the golf course or the campground. The campground hosts are very friendly and helpful. I was told that the washing machines are free to use but the dryer require quarters How about that? |

We have a full moon |
