August 19: Celebrating Carol's Birthday on Route 66

 We decided to check out some Route 66 places.  Route 66 is celebrating  100 years and a lot of the small towns along the road have special displays.  We chose Atlanta, Illinois.

Atlanta is halfway between Chicago and St. Louis on Route 66.

This clock tower was originally located at the high School in Atlanta.

The library of Atlanta is octogon shaped.

There is a museum featuring "big" advertising pieces.

If only we could have these prices today  but with our salaries of today!

After visiting Atlanta, we drove to Springfield to eat at Golden Corral for Carol's 81st birthday.

We always visit Menard's when we come to Springfield.  Got back home around 3:00 p.m.  It was a nice day.
