Home

We had 400 miles to travel today, so we were on the road by 7:00 a.m.  It was still dark!

Eventually, the sun tried to come out from behind the clouds.

Another long day of driving - another true rest in a rest area.  It is amazing how a short 30
minute nap can refresh a traveler.  Who would have thought that we would pull into a rest area and actually take a nap!

The trees are beginning to turn back in Illinois.  Looking forward to full color change in the next few weeks.  Thanks to gaining an hour when we crossed into Illinois, we pulled into our driveway at 3:30 p.m.  It was much easier to unpack the car as opposed to the motorhome.   Tuesdays are "$12 pizzas" so we picked up one from Papa Murphy's for supper.  Hadn't had pizza for a while, so it tasted very good.

This was definitely a different kind of trip for us but an enjoyable one.  We drove 3,300 miles in 11 days.  The itinerary was thrown out the window when Hurricane Ian blew into Florida.  We didn't get to the Keys which was the one place that remained as a destination after each itinerary change over the last few weeks.  We were able to replace the Keys with other places that had been axed from the final itinerary. We still plan to go to Turkey Run and the Covered Bridge Festival next week.  We will  have two weeks of total relaxation.  After the year we have had, it will be great to relax and regroup.

In April, Carol had a total shoulder replacement.  In August, I had total knee replacement and developed blood clots in my lungs.  Our bodies need to relax and heal and Turkey Run is just the place for that.
