Back in Illinois

We spent the morning relaxing.  It was only 100 miles to our next campground in Illinois.  Checkout time in Iowa park is 3:00 p.m. and check in time in Illinois is 4:00 p.m.  We have learned that you can really check in after three so we left at 12:30 hoping to arrive at Mississippi Palisades State Park around three.

Another foggy day to begin the day in Pikes Peak State Park.

The bridge State Highway uses for US Highway 20 to cross into Illinois from Iowa at Dubuque.

The rural scene from the top of the hills as we drove US Highway 20.

Arrived at state park at 3:00 p.m. and set up.  We were happy to have a pull-through site but it was very unlevel.  We set up, tried to level, put slides out, pull slides in, tried to level, put slides out, and finally accepted that we could not level.

Very unlevel site 209.

One other thing about this site (and every other site).  is that there is no internet.  That first evening we discovered that meant no evening music, no blog, no text messages.  We were, except for electricity and water in our holding tank, off the grid.  We did drive into Savannah (about two miles south of the park), to find two bars of service with Verizon so I could post on Facebook.
